Senior Data Engineer
Job Description
What you’ll be doing…
The Go.Compare Data team is seeking a Senior Data Engineer who will be collaborating on aiding the migration of our legacy data warehouses to GCP, through developing new batch and streaming-based pipelines. The engineer will utilise the GCP stack of data engineering tools to integrate data sources in a robust and cost-efficient manner, using best practice data engineering principles.
The Senior Data Engineer will be comfortable in developing data engineering pipelines independently and ensuring reliable cost-effective processing of data. They will be a keen collaborator and aid other engineers in the delivery of their pipelines in a consistent manner. Our Senior Data Engineer will be a respected member of the team who can help more junior members of the team overcome challenges in their data implementations
This role also involves supporting our legacy SQL server-based data warehouse. The successful candidate will ensure that the platform runs reliably daily, including ensuring that daily tasks run successfully and carrying out maintenance tasks to ensure dimensional tables are correct and accurate.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…
- Experience building and operating big data platforms
- Proficiency in Python or another general-purpose language
- Experience in cloud-based technologies (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- History of maintaining a SQL Server-based data warehouse including modifying SSIS packages, complex stored procedures, SSRS reports, and SSAS cubes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical audiences
