The Mobility team is an established team responsible for the ride-hailing module in the Grab app. We improve the core transport booking experience. We are made up of and diversified engineers. Get to Know the Role

Data Engineers in Grab get to work on one of the largest and fastest growing datasets of any company in South East Asia. You will be involved in multiple areas of Grab’s Data Ecosystem including reporting, data infrastructure, and several other data services that are important parts of Grab’s overall technical stack. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and be based onsite in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Develop Cutting-Edge Solutions: Contribute to all phases of developing a data warehouse system. From initial design to testing, deployment, and ongoing support, you’ll create a scalable and system that effortlessly integrates with multiple lines of business (LOBs).
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with our Product, Business, Design, and Engineering teams to define and refine technical specifications, ensuring our solutions meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Create Powerful Data Pipelines: Design and implement scripts, ETL jobs, and data models that capture and organize data.
  • Drive Data-Driven Decisions: Provide organization-wide visibility with comprehensive metric measurements and insights, supporting teams across the region with relevant data.
  • Champion Best Practices: Develop best practices for change management, documentation, and data protocols, ensuring consistency and reliability in our data processes.
  • Enhance Monitoring and Reporting: Identify main system and application metrics, develop insightful dashboards, and set up alerts to monitor these metrics and thresholds.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least 5+ years of experience developing Data warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions
  • Sound knowledge of data warehousing concepts , data modeling/architecture and SQL
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python.
  • Understanding of performance, scalability and reliability concepts
  • Experience with Big Data frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark.
  • Experience developing data solutions on AWS
