A Day in the LifeAt Medtronic, we’re harnessing the power of machine learning (ML) to solve complex problems and create cutting-edge solutions. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer who will be responsible for migrating data from various legacy systems to new platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases with awareness of AWS data stack and be capable of working with both structured and unstructured data. This role requires flexibility, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle data from various legacy systems.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and migration goals.

  • Plan and execute data migration strategies from legacy systems to new platforms.

  • Work with various data origin systems, including outdated platforms.

  • Adapt to different database interfaces and troubleshoot migration issues.

  • Integrate data from various sources, including SQL and Oracle databases, and PACS systems.

  • Develop and implement data transformation and cleansing processes.

  • Utilize ETL tools and processes for data integration and migration.

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy during the migration process.

  • Perform data validation and quality assurance checks.

  • Identify and resolve data quality issues.

  • Communicate progress and address concerns with stakeholders.

  • Optimize data migration processes for efficiency.

  • Monitor and improve the performance of data migration tasks.

  • Principal Working Relationship

  • Reports to the AI / Data Science Manager.

  • Collaborates with data scientists, business analysts, data analysts, and other data engineers.

  • Knowledge of PACS systems and handling medical images.

  • Understanding of different database interfaces and platforms.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 8+ Years of strong technical experience working in various aspects of data management lifecycle.

  • Required experience in ETL, Python, SQL & NoSQL.

  • Proven experience in data migration projects, including planning and executing data migration strategies.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with Oracle & SQL databases.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS technologies and services related to data storage, processing, and migration.

  • Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools and processes for data integration and migration.

  • Ability to work with both structured and unstructured data, including PACS images and other medical data formats.

  • Experience with data transformation and data cleansing processes to ensure data quality.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues.

  • Ability to adapt to different database interfaces and platforms, including proprietary systems from various vendors.

  • Ability to identify and resolve data quality issues during the migration process.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Ability to clearly communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
