We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Royal London. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving delivery for Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning and AI projects & initiatives across the organisation. You will be responsible for analysing complex data sets, developing statistical models, and providing actionable insights to optimise business performance. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our company’s strategic initiatives and contribute to our overall success.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to mentor other Data Engineers, work with senior stakeholders in a cross functional environment. This will be a hands-on role, as you will have the opportunity to, shape and develop how the team strategically work on various cloud-based projects across the business areas. We are looking for Data Engineers who have experience with SQL, Python and Databricks. As well as Azure and AWS cloud environments.
This role contributes to our purpose of strengthening the mutual choice for customers by providing cutting edge solutions and products for our customers.
About the role
- You will source and prepare data for use in Business Intelligence (BI), Analytics and Data Science project and initiatives.
- Engage with Stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts to identify new opportunities to apply these techniques.
- You will source, evaluate, interpret, and manage multiple disparate data sources.
- You will own, and manage the team’s data – working with business, technology, and external partners. As well as play a lead role in the strategic evolution of the data model to meet business need.
- In addition, you will design and develop data pipelines, from both the on-premises and cloud platforms.
- You will, design and develop analytics tools that can be used by the team and by wider business users. As well as, prototype solutions to explore business hypothesis in an agile and iterative way which supports a learn fast/fail fast methodology.
About you
- Minimum of 5 years experience working as a data engineer in a complex business setting.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Pyspark, Spark, Scala. As well as considerable experience in Cloud based Databricks, AWS and Azure.
- Experience in building and maintaining reliable and scalable ETL on big data platforms.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and data manipulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
