As a Senior Data Engineer (Machine Learning), you will be working closely with other experienced Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Data Engineers (Machine Learning). You will be responsible for developing and delivering advanced AI/ML models into production, leveraging the latest technologies in Natural Language Processing (NLP), deep learning, and transformer architectures. You should possess exceptional MLOps experience and strong skills in developing, training, tuning, and optimizing machine learning models to effectively collaborate with business and technology leaders in building AI/ML systems that meet organizational needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver AI/ML models to production by following high-standard MLOps processes, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices. 
  • Develop new or leverage/tune existing AI models, with a particular emphasis on transformer architectures and LLMs. 
  • Own the full lifecycle of AI development from ideation, data exploration, and algorithm design to testing, deployment, monitoring, and tuning of models in production, including the use of prompt engineering for LLMs. 
  • Evaluate and rank various ML algorithms and methods—including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques. 
  • Develop ML/AI models to support data collection, ingestion, and migration efforts, ensuring integration with existing infrastructures. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or Economics
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or in a similar role. 
  • Deep knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, and algorithms, with a focus on supervised and unsupervised learning methods. 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Economics, Bioengineering, or another quantitative field preferred. 
  • Experience working on cloud platforms such as Azure (preferably), AWS, or GCP. 
  • Deep expertise in Python for ML, with proficiency in writing Pythonic code and relevant software design best practices. Familiarity with machine learning libraries for Python (FastAPI, FlaskAPI, scikit-learn, Pandas, SciPy, NumPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, etc.). 
  • Strong understanding of modern machine learning techniques and algorithms, particularly those relevant to transformers and large language models, including fine-tuning techniques for NLP tasks. 
  • Expertise in natural language processing applications, including but not limited to topic modeling, entity extraction, sentiment analysis, and the use of LLMs for conversational AI. 
  • Additional Skills Required: 
    • Familiarity with container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes (k8s). 
    • Familiarity with business processes, preferably within the insurance industry. 
    • Confident in decision-making, with the ability to articulate processes or choices as needed. 
    • Strong motivation and a proactive approach to problem-solving. 
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork and collaboration. 
    • Flexibility and willingness to travel as needed. 
    • Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.
