Senior Data Engineer (R-15854)
Job Description
The Role:The Senior Big Data Engineer will be responsible for leading and implementing Big Data and Cloud adoptionacross DNB data platforms. He or she will work with various Business and Technology teams to support the GCPapplications SRE operations, in particular for our key Data and Analytics Platform (DAP) .
Key Responsibilities
- Support Cloud/Big Data engineering in our GCP applications including primarily DAP
- Collaborate with various BU/IT teams to understand their current requirements/pain points, document use
- cases/tech requirements, and suggest appropriate cloud-based solutions
- Identify and solve design problems of moderate to complex Big-data cloud implementation, should
- independently plan and design solutions, involving potentially conflicting design requirements
- Be a trusted advisor and internal SME who will help BU teams with review of architecture patterns, security &
- compliance, system performance and cost optimization strategies
- Lead and conduct hands-on evaluation and POCs as needed for Big-data and cloud technologies
- Perform Big data and Cloud platform development to contribute to aligned project delivery
- Educate engineers on design principles, best practices and enforce design concepts
Key Requirements:
- Should have experience in design and implementation of Big Data technologies and data architecture patterns (data warehouse, data lake, streaming, etc.)
- Should have experience supporting production workloads, preferable in an SRE team
- Should have worked on large multi-region big data platform implementation in the last 3 years
- Must have experience in architecting and/or implementing production-level workloads, including end-to-end pipeline load performance testing and optimization
- Nice to have hands-on experience in architecting, scaling out, managing and performance optimization of large-scale big data clusters and large scale applications on AWS, GCP, DataBricks or Azure
- Nice to have have experience on overall data governance, compliance and advanced data security including fine grain access controls, data privacy/protection, meta data management, and other related items
- Nice to have extensive experience in the area of Data Architecture & Application Design, APIs / Microservices
- Nice to have Knowledge of Terraform, Hashicorp Vault, Harness, GitHub, Snyk, or similar services
- Experience on elastic search, solr, and other search engines is a plus
- Deep technical knowledge & comfortable coding in Java, Python and Spark
- Experience rolling out Machine Learning models at scale will be a Nice to Have
