As a Software Engineering Specialist, you will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for data products typically involving large, complex datasets. You will interact with Subject Matter Experts, Architects, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and many others to fulfil your duties. Example application areas you will be involved with include regulatory reporting, emissions/water/waste management, human capital reporting, biodiversity reporting, control and risk management, health & safety reporting.
As a Data Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and developing low-code applications on Microsoft Power Platform
- Monitoring infrastructure and applications hosted on cloud environments (e.g.: AWS, Azure) and engaging on proactive support with platform teams, end-users or projects
- Developing continuous integration, automated testing and similar scripts and pipelines (e.g.: Power Automate, Shell Scripts in Linux, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Implementing automated testing or executing manual testing procedures to ensure conformity with functional and non-functional requirements
- Identifying impacts of changes in sources of data, code and platforms
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a minimum 6 years of professional experience.
- Have a minimum 4 years of experience with Data Engineering projects (e.g.: development of dashboards, data modelling, data processing software, database maintenance, etc.).
- Be able to deliver results when working on shorter-term (weeks-months), outcome-focused engagements
- Be able to leverage knowledge about competitors, trends, and changing regulations to bring new ideas to the team
- Be able to articulate the value proposition of existing technology capabilities and map them to customer requirements to minimize incremental cost of development
- Have extensive experience in Data Engineering (SQL, Data Modelling, ELT)
- Have extensive experience in Distributed Data Processing (e.g.: Spark, MPP databases)
- Have experience with ‘User Experience’ processes (ex: Design Thinking, Prototyping, Wireframing, User Journeys, etc.)
- Have experience in an agile environment. Be aware of and able to apply continuous integration (CI).
- Have experience with different ETL tools (e.g.: Talend, Informatica) and/or Cloud Services (e.g.: Object Store).
