Beyond Property, Purchasing, HR and IT, more than being part of our Finance or Marketing teams, beyond even Sales and Service, every role in every business area offers unique opportunities to make an impact on the future of mobility and the automotive industry.

The Customer Care Quality (CCQ) team in JLR represents the independent voice of the customer, with responsibility for the detection, understanding, and prioritisation of customer product quality issues and the deployment of fixes for these issues. The multitude of data sources and the extensive volume of data – spanning from warranty data to connected car data and manufacturing data – presents an immense opportunity for in-depth analysis. Harnessing this extensive data reservoir equips us with the potential to not only address and prioritise known quality issues, but also to detect and predict potential issues, enabling proactive measures to ensure exceptional customer experience. As a Senior Data Scientist in CCQ, you’ll play an important role within a dynamic team that is helping to innovate how we can best harness the vast amount of data and leverage AI & data science to increase (a) the speed of issue detection, (b) the depth of issue understanding, and (c) the pace of issue resolution. We are seeking a candidate with a good foundation in data science and statistics and competent in coding and in developing and deploying data science solutions. The ideal candidate is a resourceful problem-solver capable of independently navigating intricate challenges post-project initiation, while is also an effective team player capable of collaborating with the analytics team members and the diverse business functions to achieve project objective as a team. In this role, you will be executing, leading, and/or supporting projects that are varied in nature, demanding a wide spectrum of skills and knowledge – from business comprehension, data manipulation and visualisation through to modelling and solution implementation. A genuine passion for continual learning, coupled with self-motivation and rapid adaptability, is integral to succeeding in this dynamic and evolving landscape.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Leverage AI & data science to drive business value within the domain of CCQ.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional domain experts and other data science teams to understand and solve business problems effectively.
  • Recognise the underlying problems of business or process challenges and identify opportunities for AI & data science.
  • Brainstorm, develop, test, and implement reliable and trusted data science solutions and quantitative analyses.
  • Engage in the end-to-end process of a data science project: from initial problem framing to understanding & working with data, conducting quantitative analyses, developing models, evaluating models, deploying them in production, and communicating the results.
  • Deploy data science products using industry best practices.
  • Support developments, enhancements, and queries from stakeholders on existing analytics products.
  • Communicate complex concepts, findings, and solutions coherently to both technical and non-technical audiences and stakeholders through written and oral presentations.
  • Coach and lead junior members in delivering data science products and in their learning & developments.
  • Assist non-technical colleagues in understanding and utilising data analysis-related concepts.
  • Contribute to improving and expanding data science best practices and workflows within the team.
  • Continually develop data science skills and seek innovative solutions to problems through research, online training, and other learning opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline (Master’s, PhD or comparable level of experiences is an asset).
  • Good understanding of and experience in a variety of machine learning techniques (such as classification, regression, clustering, dimensionality reduction) and statistical techniques and ways to evaluate and validate model.
  • Proven work experience in ideating, leading, developing, and deploying AI & data science solutions that delivered tangible value to complex problems.
  • Extensive experience of using Python (or other programming languages), SQL (or other database languages), and common data science packages (e.g. Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, PyTorch).
  • Ability to write clean, intelligible production-ready code.
  • Experience manipulating / pre-processing, visualising, and interpreting huge datasets.
  • Experience with Agile development and Git / GitFlow version control.
