To find out more about our journey click here.   Your Next Challenge    The Senior Data Scientist role at Moneycorp is a pivotal new position designed to facilitate the seamless transition of support responsibilities from the Skunk team to IT operations. This role is integral to the establishment and leadership of a new team dedicated to ensuring the smooth integration of support functions into the IT operations framework. The Senior Data Scientist will lead and mentor the new team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. They will identify and prioritise support functions to be transitioned from the Skunk team to IT operations, ensuring comprehensive documentation of all processes, systems, and support functions to facilitate knowledge transfer and operational continuity. Developing and implementing a prioritisation framework to manage the transition effectively, the Senior Data Scientist will ensure critical support functions are addressed promptly. They will work closely with both the Skunk team and IT operations to ensure alignment and smooth handover of responsibilities. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance support efficiency and effectiveness. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of IT support at Moneycorp, driving innovation and efficiency in a dynamic and supportive environment. Role Responsibilities:

  • Support Transition: Responsible for ensuring innovation workflows and related technologies are transitioned from the Skunk team to IT service.
  • Team Leadership: Leading the new function, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Mentor and guide team members, to ensure effective team dynamics and performance.
  • Documentation: Ensure comprehensive documentation of all processes, systems, and support functions to facilitate knowledge transfer and operational continuity. Maintain up-to-date records to support ongoing operations and future transitions.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, process, and analyse data related to support functions, providing actionable insights to guide the transition process. Use data-driven decision-making to prioritise tasks and improve support functions.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience with Alteryx, Alteryx Server and Python for data preparation, blending, and advanced analytics. Automate workflows and manage data processes to support the transition efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with both the Labs function and IT Operations to ensure alignment and smooth handover of responsibilities. Facilitate effective communication and cooperation between teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance support efficiency and effectiveness. Drive innovation and optimisation within the support functions.
  • Support: Maintain and support applications by reacting to problems and correcting functionality as necessary. Ensure the reliability and performance of support systems during and after the transition.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven experience of delivering high quality, unit tested software in a timely manner.
  • Experience of delivering software within a commercial environment (preferably financial services)
  • Practical experience of applying appropriate design patterns and principles
  • FX and Financial knowledge – desirable
  • Exposure to financial systems – desirable  

 Technical Skills:

  • A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in software engineering, specializing in .Net technologies.
  • Proficiency in Cloud fundamentals, Azure, and practical exposure to Azure DevOps.
  • Strong understanding of Alteryx, Alteryx server and Python.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and their implementation.
  • Sound knowledge of software architecture design, including SOLID principles and various design patterns.
  • English communication skills, both written and verbal.
