SUMMARY: 

This Senior Developer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining software applications, design enhancements and project development. Directs the in-house development team to both build new tools and services. Facilitates the adoption of existing tools with the goal of advancing the businesses digital infrastructure and meeting its growth needs. Integrate cross functional collaboration with other stakeholders such as sales, product, and support to be successful in this role.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned in conformance with state and federal regulations.

Core:

  1. Provide strategic direction and oversight to software engineers.
  2. Identify customer needs through workshops, focus groups, and research initiatives, sharing insights with key stakeholders and development professionals.
  3. Define the product roadmap, incorporating feedback from management team.
  4. Remain involved in all stages of the product life cycle, defining and implementing refinements and upgrades to increase longevity.
  5. Key stakeholder for executing projects on time and within scope.
  6. Ability to own projects, communicate effectively, and regularly update stakeholders.
  7. Ability to drive development schedules internally and externally.
  8. Describe/create a new program/scope.
  9. Define process workflow in order to automate/eliminate or streamline for the business.
  10. Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  11. Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  12. Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
  13. Prepares and develops solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
  14. Provide working solution of SaaS applications within project scope
  15. Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
  16. Management of external vendors.
  17. Obtains and licenses software by obtaining required information from vendors; recommending purchases; testing and approving products.
  18. Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  19. Experience with programming languages including but not limited to: Python, Java, JavaScript, and C++.
  20. Experience working with html.
  21. Experience creating RESTful API integrations.
  22. Comfortable with Agile, Waterfall, DevOps, and Rapid application development methodologies. 
  23. Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
  24. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software.
  25. Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  26. Ability to proficiently participate in demos of proprietary software for outside clients is required.
  27. Ability to coach Product Developers in creating and maintenance of proprietary software as needed.
  28. Protects operations by keeping company information confidential.
  29. Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients’ needs.
  30. Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company’s strategic goals.
  31. Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV’s quality standards and strategic initiatives.
  32. Maintains safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  33. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

 

Division/Role Specific:

Asset Management Division – IT Data Analyst:

  1. Responsible for overseeing the development and use of data systems.
  2. Working with team to develop and improve systems, procedures, and policies for data organization.
  3. Lead data management, data collection techniques, create data procedures, and data regulations.
  4. Identify and resolve problems in the data.
  5. Share findings with leadership team and stakeholders during meetings.
  6. Educate employees and clients about data collecting system.   
  7. Confirm all data is kept secure and confidential.
  8. Architects, designs, develops, and maintains a multitude of complex relational data warehouse supporting executive dashboards, ongoing operation analysis, management decisions, process, and quality improvement.
  9. Ability to quickly understand business requirements and transform user requirements into queried reports/Stored procedure; maintain and develop SQL queries and stored procedures for Tableau and Power BI dashboards and reports; Tableau and Power BI pulse and metrics.
  10. Maintain and develop data connections between data warehouse and operating system, financial ERP system, etc.; Manage data warehousing and data cubes; deal with database performance and scaling issues.
  11. Drive technical solutions to automate and streamline the current budget/forecast process and data warehouse management.
  12. Manage and develop data exchange between operational systems, Tableau, and Power BI; participate in data monetization/ data sharing with external users. 
  13. Design, development, testing and deployment of Tableau and Power BI dashboards.
  14. Leverage advanced Tableau and Power BI functionality (parameters, actions, tooltip modifications, API, etc.) to create analytical dashboards.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises employees on the development team in a direct reporting relationship. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in related field; minimum of five years of related experience. In lieu of degree, eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Software Engineering Skills: Analyzing Information, General Programming Skills, Software Design, Software Debugging, Software Documentation, Software Testing, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Software Development Fundamentals, Software Development Process, and Software Requirements.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  1. Valid driver’s license required with no significant MVA points/violations (clean driving record).
  2. Personal credit sufficient to charge business travel expenses of up to $3,000 required.

 

Language Ability: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff.

Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

Technology SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in operating a computer, having knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software.
