Job Description

Luminary Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Computational Biology to lead our client’s efforts in leveraging computational techniques to extract valuable insights from biological and clinical data. As the Senior Director of Computational Biology, you will play a key role in driving innovation and advancing the field of computational biology within the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of computational biologists and bioinformaticians, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Define and execute the computational biology strategy and roadmap, aligning with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify research questions and develop computational approaches to address them using biological and clinical data.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of computational workflows and algorithms for the analysis and interpretation of biological and clinical data.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to derive actionable insights from large-scale biological datasets.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in computational biology and bioinformatics, and drive their adoption within the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and execute research projects and studies.
  • Ensure the quality, integrity, and reproducibility of computational analyses and results.
  • Manage relationships with external collaborators, vendors, and service providers.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of scientific findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes related to computational biology and bioinformatics.

Requirements

  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in computational biology, with a focus on the analysis of biological and clinical data.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of leading a computational biology team.
  • Expertise in computational approaches and methodologies for analyzing large-scale biological datasets.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or Perl.
  • Experience with statistical and machine learning techniques for data analysis and modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of biological databases and resources.
  • Experience with high-throughput sequencing data analysis is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to find innovative solutions to complex biological challenges.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Publication record in peer-reviewed journals and active participation in relevant scientific communities is desirable.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry and familiarity with regulatory considerations is a plus.
