Job description 

As a GCP Platform Engineer, you will help develop the data-driven products that the Analytics Engineering (AE) organization builds. Within the AE organization, we use agile, lean and design thinking methodologies to launch new initiatives within or outside of ING. 

ING is now building its Data Analytics Platform in Google Cloud! It is to help ING to be even more data driven. This is a joined effort between ING units, and you are going to be part of a distributed multi-national and multi-cultural team. There is plenty of work and fun down this road. 

Your passion is to work with the latest and greatest technologies that make working with large amounts of data easy, you are proactive in keeping yourself up to date and trying everything out. You also enjoy laying the architectural foundations for the things you are AE e working on while aligning the business problem with the right technology. You combine both thinking of the future and a hands-on, right-now attitude. You can identify on which fronts a team can grow and will help them get there. You will work in a team with highly skilled people and enjoy a creative atmosphere where trying things out is encouraged. 

 

Your work environment 

The Analytics Engineering organization is composed of around 110 people that have the mission to make ING data driven. We do this by combining UX research and engineering with data science to deliver high-value solutions and products for our organization. We work in a fun and creative environment, and we are dedicated to bringing out the best in both each other and our projects. We have offices in Amsterdam (head office), London, Warsaw, Katowice, and Bucharest. 

 
 

We are looking for you if: 

  • 5+ years of experience/knowledge with GCP  

  • You have built platforms on top of GCP using managed services like Cloud Run, Vertex AI, GKE,  BigQuery and Dataproc or similar 

  • You have an Infrastructure as Code mindset (Our tech stack: Terraform with Azure DevOps pipelines), 

  • Programming skills (Python & Golang preferred) 

  • You have hands-on experience with monitoring, logging and alerting. 

  • You can clearly express ideas, facts and opinions. Experience elaborating complex ideas as part of design pages, which makes you great to collaborate with. 

  • Understanding of networking concepts, including VPC, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls. 

 

 

 
You’ll get extra points for: 

  • You have knowledge in secure authentication and encrypted workloads (OIDC, KMS, client/server SSL/TLS and etc)  

  • Contribution to Open-Source projects is an advantage.  

  • Experience with Kubernetes, preferably on Google Cloud (GKE) 

  • Automate everything mindset

  • Building a platform and supporting its tenants 

  • Data analytics platform components maintenance 

  • Architecture development and experiments 

  • Preparing cloud-ready and IaC-based solutions
