Job Description
In this position, you will support the digital transformation of Eurofins Food & Feed Testing Europe by managing AI initiatives in machine learning. Your role focuses on driving new business opportunities and enhancing commercial and operational standards across the Food Testing sector in Europe. Responsibilities include developing core algorithms that power laboratory functions—from search and recommendation systems to image recognition and product identification. You will also guide junior ML engineers, collaborating with infrastructure teams to deploy models on both cloud and on-premises systems.
As part of your initial focus, you will work on projects such as developing AI tools to optimise commercial functions, implementing visual bacteria recognition in production settings, and assessing sanitary risks based on historical data. You’ll bring your expertise to cross-departmental teams, driving AI solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality while providing mentorship to peers.
Qualifications
Candidates should bring at least six years of experience in machine learning, demonstrating a background in implementing organisational change and building relationships across various stakeholder groups. Experience deploying machine learning models at an enterprise level, with a track record in areas such as recommendation systems, image recognition, or natural language processing, is essential.
Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics, or an equivalent level of professional experience. Proficiency in languages like Java, C/C++, or Python is required.
Analytical and problem-solving skills are fundamental, as well as strong abilities in strategic thinking, communication, and collaboration. Familiarity with deep learning, reinforcement learning, or probabilistic graphical models is beneficial. These skills will support your work in delivering impactful business results across the organisation.
