Flow Traders is looking for a Senior Platform Data Engineer to join our growing Data team in our Amsterdam office. Platform Data Engineers at Flow Traders are responsible for maximizing the value of our data. You will develop and maintain platform capabilities like self service offerings to Data platform users, improve resource utilization on platform and deliver business use cases. Working closely with Quantitative Traders and Fundamental Analysts, you will make data available, performant and accessible, choosing the right technology for the task.

Platform capabilities include but are not limited to: Self-service ETL templates, Self-service job scheduler, self-provisioning of user clusters, value added services (monitoring & alerting), configurable Data Quality rules, Metadata Management, decisions on data modelling/ data storage/data format. Proposing and implementing new platform capabilities/technology.

 

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain platform capabilities
  • Develop and maintain data infrastructure and data intensive applications
  • Create insights and make data available, accessible and performant for business
  • Work closely with other technology teams (SRE, Backend Platforms, Trading Platforms) and Business
  • Support operations with deployment and configuration of data infrastructure
  • Mentor and coach less experienced colleagues 

 

What you need to succeed

  • Experience with data modeling and data warehousing platforms (ex. Bigquery)
  • Extensive experience with distributed storage, middleware (e.g. Kafka), data processing (e.g. Apache Beam, Spark), container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • Hands-on experience with Java / Python programming languages
  • Knowledge of data governance processes and concepts
  • Knowledge of modern data science techniques and tools (Pandas, Tensorflow, SparkML), familiarity with AI and machine learning
  • Solid knowledge of cloud computing (storage, databases, data analysis and processing), preferably GCP and AWS
