About the role: This role will have technical leadership responsibilities for the development and implementation of data analytics within the Electrophysiology (EP) Complaint Investigation Site (CIS). The CIS is responsible for post market product performance which includes physical device analysis as well as analysis of overall complaint trends. This role will have responsibility for the development of tools to support the investigations process as well as tools/data visualizations to communicate product performance information across functions within the division.
This role requires the ability to identify and retrieve data from various databases and use this data to perform analytics, statistics, and create visualizations. A good understanding of general data architecture and data governance is key. The ability to identify required data entities, the skill to model them for visualization, and the skill to design models with Business Intelligence (BI) tools are a critical for this role. Boston Scientific uses several advanced BI tools that include Tableau and Microsoft Power BI and experience with these platforms or similar platforms is required. There is also the opportunity to develop robotic process automations using tools such as UFT, Selenium, or Automation Anywhere.
This is a hybrid position located in Arden Hills, MN
Your responsibilities include:
- Leads and guides product performance data projects by defining organizational needs and utilizing new or existing technology and tools to drive projects to completion.
- Interacts with internal customers and across the business to determine customer data or report requirements and translates them into reports for analysis.
- Actively work within the network of data professionals across Boston Scientific divisions to bring best practices back to the EP division. The individual will be a key participant in the establishment and implementation of a Data Analytics Strategy within EP CIS.
- Collects and tracks data and provides analysis through ongoing reporting, ad hoc analysis, and partnership to share insights and ensure understanding within the business.
- Leads the development and communication of the data analytics strategy and operating plan within the CIS team.
- Develops and maintains analytical tools used by the CIS. Identifies and recommends opportunities to optimize systems and reporting.
- Develop, maintain, document, and test internal software repositories to support scalable model development across several datasets, analytics platforms, and model types.
- Interact with a variety of databases and data types, including SQL relational databases, text data and image data.
- Prepare and present technical data and recommendations at technical reviews.
- Train and/or provide work direction on related to BI tools to engineers when required as part of data generation, collection, and algorithm development efforts.
- Provides input for process improvement and helps develop tactical approaches to implement team strategies.
- Demonstrating a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced data analytics, reporting and statistical problem solving within a technical field OR a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience within a technical field.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Advanced experience with Tableau, Power BI or another BI platform.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field.
- Understanding of software validation processes.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking & data analysis capabilities.
- Strong communication skills with experience explaining technical concepts to technical and business partners.
- Experience and understanding of statistical analysis (experimentation logic and biases, hypothesis testing, probability, regressions).
- Demonstrated ability to tailor and define analytics based on business needs.
- Knowledgeable in Quality System Regulations, Medical Device Regulation, and ISO13485 Quality Standards.
