About the Position:This Senior Software Engineer will be a key contributor to our data pipeline and application architecture, ensuring code is merged, released, deployed correctly. Reporting to the Director, Data Platform, you will work as part of our Ireland-based team and within a cross-disciplinary team of US based data engineers, product engineers, and cloud architects through all stages of development – from planning and design to implementation and release.
As a Senior Engineer on the team, you will help move our software development practices forward by guiding others on design and best practices, and writing high quality code for development projects designed to the standards and priorities outlined by your Director. You’ll mentor other engineers, conduct code reviews, and help write technical requirements across product-driven teams. Most importantly, you’ll be a pivotal part of a team that values quick iteration, embraces new tech, and relies on data-driven decision making.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience writing production Python code
  • Minimum 5 years of experience writing production code in a strongly-typed language
  • Minimum 5 years of experience writing SQL code
  • 3+ years experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines
  • 2+ years experience working in an event-driven and/or microservice ecosystems
  • 3+ years working on large scale, complex data sets
  • 2+ years experience delivering complete projects within/for distributed systems in a cloud environment 
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines and best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing applications that make use of AWS services including Lambda, S3, Glue, RDS, DynamoDB, ECS, EMR, Elasticache, MemDB, CDK/Cloud Formation
  • Experience building production applications with Javascript or Typescript
  • Experience in the data science toolkit, particularly Pandas, NumPy, and data visualization tools like Matplotlib.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries like finance, health care or defense
  • Experience productively working in fully-remote environments across time-zones.
