Senior Staff Data Scientist
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Data Scientist to help us make smarter decisions by leveraging advanced data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and machine learning. As an individual contributor, you will work independently to extract actionable insights from vast amounts of data, building high-quality predictive models that can be seamlessly integrated into our products. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with product management and engineering teams while focusing on delivering innovative data solutions without direct team management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently select features, build, and optimize machine learning models and classifiers to address business challenges.
- Research, develop, and implement statistical learning models to analyze complex datasets and identify actionable insights.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions.
- Enhance data collection procedures to ensure the inclusion of relevant information for building robust analytic systems.
- Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis to ensure the highest data quality.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and present findings in a clear and compelling manner to key stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies, applying them to enhance DANA’s data strategy.
- Communicate results and insights effectively to decision-makers, providing recommendations for product improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with data processing, database programming, and data analytics.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on product development and data-driven decision-making.
- Expertise in statistical software packages (Python, R, SAS, SSRS) and familiarity with Tableau Analytics Tools.
- Experience analyzing data from third-party providers (Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Coremetrics, Adwords, Facebook Insights, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting and programming for data manipulation and transformation.
- Deep understanding of various data structures and common methods for data transformation.
- A data-oriented mindset, with strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
