Role Title: Technical Business Analyst – Data & Reporting
BU/Segment: Analytics / Data / Insurance Location: London, United Kingdom (3-4 days a week, office-based) Employment Type: Permanent Experience: 7–10 years
We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with strong insurance domain knowledge and a solid background in Power BI-led reporting and analytics delivery .
This role is ideal for a candidate who can act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams , working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to gather, structure, and translate business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications.
The successful candidate will be based on-site in London , leading stakeholder discussions, defining requirements, supporting prioritisation, and coordinating with offshore development teams to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of data and reporting solutions.
The role requires a strong understanding of reporting, analytics, data structures, and Power BI , combined with excellent communication, documentation, and delivery management skills.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:
Stakeholder Management & Business Analysis
- Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and technical teams , ensuring requirements are clearly understood, documented, and delivered.
- Run workshops, requirement discovery sessions, and working meetings with business users and SMEs
- Translate business needs into user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, process flows, and solution documentation
- Support prioritisation of requirements and help define delivery roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
- Ensure strong communication and alignment across onshore stakeholders and offshore delivery teams
Technical Delivery Coordination
- Work closely with offshore developers, data engineers, and BI teams to clarify requirements and support solution design and delivery.
- Serve as the onshore coordination point for delivery teams, helping to unblock issues, manage dependencies, and maintain momentum.
- Review technical outputs against business requirements and support quality assurance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Track progress, manage requirement changes, and ensure traceability from requirement through to deployment.
Power BI & Reporting
- Lead requirements definition for Power BI dashboards, MI reporting, and analytics solutions .
- Support the design and validation of Power BI data models, dashboards, and reporting logic .
- Review dashboards and reporting outputs to ensure they are aligned to business expectations and are fit for executive and operational use.
Data & Insurance Domain Support
- Support data analysis and requirement definition across insurance datasets, including underwriting, premium, claims, bordereaux, and performance reporting.
- Ensure business definitions, metric logic, and reporting outputs are aligned with insurance operating needs.
- Work with stakeholders to identify gaps in data, process, and reporting, and recommend practical improvements.
Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role
Required Skills
- 5–10 years of experience in Technical Business Analysis, or Data & Analytics delivery roles .
- Proven experience working as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical/offshore delivery teams .
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior business users and technical teams.
- Strong experience in requirements gathering, documentation, solution design, user stories, and acceptance criteria definition .
- Practical experience with Power BI , including dashboard requirements, KPI definition, reporting logic, and validation of delivered outputs.
- Good understanding of data structures, reporting layers, and analytics delivery processes .
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing, delivery-oriented environment.
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in the Insurance industry, ideally within Specialty, Commercial, London Market, or MGA environments .
- Familiarity with bordereaux, underwriting data, claims data, and insurance reporting processes .
- Working knowledge of SQL for data interrogation, validation, and requirement support.
- Experience working with offshore delivery models in a consulting or professional services environment.
- Awareness of modern data platforms and cloud-based reporting environments.
Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:
- A strong techno-functional Business Analyst rather than a pure developer or delivery lead.
- Comfortable working with both business users and technical teams , and able to translate between the two effectively.
- Confident in driving workshops, clarifying ambiguity, and turning loose asks into structured delivery requirements.
- Strong enough in Power BI and data/reporting concepts to challenge outputs, validate logic, and guide solution direction.
- Experienced in coordinating with offshore teams while maintaining strong day-to-day engagement with onshore stakeholders
