Job Description
AECOM’s Environmental business group is actively seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Senior Wetland Scientist / Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team in Chelmsford, MA or Rocky, Hill, CT or Providence, RI.
In this role the person will work with a team of talented environmental professionals and apply their academic knowledge in the environmental field. The successful person will have the ability to work independently on selected projects, as well as part of a collaborative team on various larger projects. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The position may also include field team management, project management, data analysis, and report writing.
The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
- Conducting botanical surveys for state- and federal-listed plant species, jurisdictional wetland delineations in CT and New England States
- Habitat/plant community assessment and related natural resources field work.
- Permitting support
- Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance
- Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
- Must be able to effectively work in tandem with program and project managers, clients, and other disciplines within AECOM
- Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives
- Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources
- Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance
- Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures
- Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Demonstrated technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office a must (samples may be requested at time of interview)
- Valid US Driver’s License required, as a condition of employment must pass AECOM’s motor vehicle records review
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree is botany, environmental science, soil science, wetland science or related field is preferred
- Demonstrated experience with GPS and GIS a bonus
- Certification as a Certified Soil Scientist/Professional Wetland Scientist highly desirable
Additional Information
- Some travel, regionally and possibly nationally will be required
- Must be willing to work across global time zones that may be outside of your own region
- This is a hybrid work-model requiring 3-days per week in one of the offices located in MA, CT or RI.

Offered rate of compensation in (Massachusetts and Connecticut locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $120,000.
