Lunit, a portmanteau of ‘Learning unit,’ is a medical AI software company devoted to providing AI-powered total cancer care.
Our AI solutions help discover cancer and predict cancer treatment outcomes, achieving timely and individually-tailored cancer treatment.

🗨️ About the Team

  • Lunit’s AI Research, Oncology dept. consists of three teams, each a global team comprised of researchers from various countries and backgrounds. Due to this characteristic, most oral communication and document writing are done in English. We enjoy constructive discussions, and once a week, we have a seminar on the latest research trends, so we have time to learn by sharing the latest information and opinions about it in academia. We have a horizontal culture where we can freely express our opinions and communicate anytime, anywhere, and comfortably ask for help when difficulties arise.

🗨️ About the Position

  • This internship aims to strengthen Lunit’s internal product, leading to the solving of real-world problems that help people survive cancer.
  • The intern will work closely with Research Engineers on Lunit’s internal AI framework. They will collaborate with numerous open-source AI frameworks and state-of-the-art models. The intern will gain exposure to deep learning models and domain knowledge in the medical industry.

🚩 Roles & Responsibilities

  • Study, assess, and benchmark state-of-the-art AI models and open-source frameworks/libraries.
  • Integrate these AI models and frameworks into Lunit’s products.
  • Research important issues in Computer Vision, specifically, but not limited to, semantic segmentation.

Requirements

🎯Minimum Qualifications

  • Capable of written and verbal communication in English.
  • Currently enrolled or expected to graduate from computer science, electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, or related field.
  • Available to work at Lunit’s HQ office(Seoul) for 5 to 6 months.
  • Experience with Python and PyTorch
  • Experience in model development in the computer vision domain
  • Experience using collaboration tools (eg. github)
  • Strong desire to learn new things and grow
  • Someone who is proactive and self-driven
  • Meticulous, attentive to detail, and responsible

🎯Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with semantic segmentation and/or object detection
  • Interest in applying AI to medicine and healthcare
  • Ability to read, reuse, and implement models and algorithms from the literature.
  • Anyone with research experience in deep learning applied to real-world applications
  • Experience contributing to open source projects
