Software Engineer III – SRE

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset & Wealth Management, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
- Creates secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance.
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development. Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications. Executing on product roadmap to address both current and future needs of Morgan Direct platform and it’s growing business
- Gathers, analyzes and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Proficient in a variety of scripting languages, such as Python or Bash, and fundamental understanding of operating systems
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, as well as proficiency in cloud platforms, such as AWS
- An in-depth understanding of DevOps and SRE principles around Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines, containerization, and orchestration tools like Spinnaker, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, proven experience managing production systems, and capability of developing effective monitoring and alerting systems.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- AWS experience and knowledge on tools such as Terraform is a plus
- Domain modeling experience is a plus
