About the role

We are seeking an SQL Server Data Engineer to join our dynamic IT team at a leading retail company. This role entails responsibility for ETL, analyzing, and visualizing data to provide valuable insights and drive informed business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Power BI.
  • Write T-SQL queries to provide ad-hoc reports based on business user requirements.
  • Design, develop, and optimize data models and queries, employing SQL and SSIS to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
  • Optimizing queries for performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to comprehend their data requirements and translate them into effective visual representations.
  • Implement data cleansing and data quality strategies to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reports and analyses.
  • Utilize the Soft1 ERP system to extract relevant data and integrate it into Power BI dashboards for comprehensive insights.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data models, processes, and report specifications.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in data visualization and business intelligence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Power BI Specialist or similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of data analysis and visualization concepts.
  • Experience writing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract, transform, and load data.
  • Proficiency in using Power BI to create interactive reports and dashboards.
  • Hands-on experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for ETL development, including package design, configuration, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, showcasing the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with Python for data manipulation and analysis is considered a plus.
  • Outstanding communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and present findings.
  • Experience in the retail industry is desirable but not required.
