Job Description

Essential job functions

  • Engage regularly with internal partners for business reviews and health checks
  • Work closely with leadership teams to answer key business questions and propose strategic adjustments
  • Use data and statistics to validate assumptions and analytic results
  • Present findings and make actionable tools in the most appropriate form (whether as a notebook, presentation, dashboard, or application)
  • Focus on speed to insight
  • Inform long-term development priorities by partnering closely with the Business Intelligence team: metrics, data quality, and reusable datasets
  • Coach and advise embedded analysts and self-service data consumers in your domain
  • Analyze key aspects of the operational and business lifecycle to create actionable recommendations
  • Generate forecasts to drive decisions and identify anomalies
  • Manage analytical lifecycle as appropriate—retire or expire stale analysis, drive for adoption of self-serve tools for recurring solutions

While there are no major restrictions or requirements to “stay in your lane”, this position is not accountable for generating or updating data warehouse datasets and core enterprise metrics/dashboards—that responsibility lies with the Business Intelligence and Analytics Engineering functions. Similarly, responsibility for data pipelines and infrastructure lies with the Data Engineering team.

Required skills

  • Advanced SQL
  • Comfortable programming in R, Python, or Julia
  • Fundamentals of statistics

Preferred skills

  • Version control and basic software engineering
  • Prior experience making or publishing analytical web apps (e.g. Shiny, Streamlit)
  • Comfortable with common BI tools
  • Advanced statistical knowledge
  • Comfortable using common ML approaches to solve analytical problems

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years in data analysis roles
