Job Description
Primary Function of the Position
The individual in this role is required to lead technical teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive data-driven decision-making within the organization. The person should be adept at designing and implementing advanced analytical models, leveraging one’s expertise to solve complex business problems. With a strong background in statistical analysis, machine learning, and programming languages such as Python and SQL, they excel in transforming raw data into actionable intelligence. The role requires oversight over teams headed by other leads and managers, who will be striving to deliver analytics and data science projects. Mentor junior resources and act as career coach to help them excel and develop their professional careers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and align the data science and analytics strategy with overall business goals, identifying opportunities to leverage data for competitive advantage.
- Manage and lead a team of data scientists and analysts, providing guidance on projects, setting performance expectations, and fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Design and implement complex analytical models and algorithms to derive actionable insights from large datasets, contributing to data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Gather and preprocess raw data from various sources, ensuring it is accurate, complete, and ready for analysis.
- Develop and generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and other relevant metrics to provide insights into business performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business leaders, IT professionals, and other stakeholders, to understand business challenges and develop data-driven solutions.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and advancements in data science and analytics, incorporating innovative techniques and technologies to enhance the organization’s capabilities.
- Effectively communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders through compelling visualizations, reports, and presentations, facilitating informed decision-making.
- Provide mentorship to junior data scientists and analysts, fostering their professional development. Conduct training sessions to enhance the overall data literacy of the organization.
- Assess and recommend new tools, technologies, and external partnerships that can enhance the organization’s data science and analytics capabilities.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Expertise in data analysis, statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python for data analysis and model development. Expertise in SQL and related data transformation software such as DBT.
- In-depth knowledge of data modelling, data mining techniques and algorithms.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- The ability to align data science and analytics strategies with overall business objectives.
- Experience developing and executing a roadmap for the implementation of advanced analytics within an organization.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- The ability to create compelling data visualizations and reports for effective communication.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to address complex business challenges through data-driven approaches.
- Experience in developing innovative solutions that drive business value.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results.
- Experience in setting project goals, milestones, and tracking progress.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, understanding their needs and aligning data initiatives with organizational goals.
Required Education and Training
- Minimum A Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field is required. Common disciplines include Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- An MBA degree from a reputed Business School and prior management consulting experience.
- Advanced project management skills and a professional certification such as PMP.
- Notable Data Science and ML related certifications /specializations from reputed organizations.
- Extensive hands-on experience in analytics, data science, or a related field, usually ranging from 10 to 12+ years.
- Previous roles demonstrating progressive responsibility, leadership, and a track record of successful project execution.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and big data technologies.
- Given the rapidly evolving nature of the field, a commitment to continuous learning is essential. This could involve attending conferences, workshops, and staying updated on the latest advancements in data science and analytics.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
