The Role:
As the Senior Director of Data and Systems Strategy at Moderna, you will hold a critical role in collaborating with our Clinical Development and Operations divisions to innovate a clinical data platform. Your mandate will include the governance of complex and varied data sources to catalyze medical advancements. Your responsibilities encompass designing, building, and sustaining a scalable and secure data architecture, along with platform and product development that are in harmony with the company’s overarching strategy. These solutions must be tailored to meet the unique demands of clinical development, adhere to regulatory standards, and bolster advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning endeavors.
In your pivotal role, you will report directly to the Vice President of Clinical Development Science. Your strategic vision will be instrumental in integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning, amplifying the company’s data prowess, thus reinventing our operational effectiveness and capacity for innovation. Tasked with steering strategic direction, you will champion the integration of the clinical Data platform across all business sectors, guaranteeing that it consistently aligns with the progressive necessities of our enterprises.
Here’s What You’ll Do:

Lead the development and execution of sophisticated data solutions adept at managing clinical data complexities, assuring superior quality and access for breakthroughs in medicine

Architect and sustain comprehensive data pipelines and structures, crucial for advancements in drug discovery and precision medicine, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, GXP and FDA regulations through robust data governance.

Drive the integration of legacy systems with contemporary data platforms in collaboration with IT teams, establishing a harmonized data environment across the company.

Deploy machine learning techniques to unveil critical patterns in extensive datasets, significantly advancing drug development and patient care outcomes.

Harness the power of advanced analytics to refine supply chain operations, optimizing logistics and inventory control to support efficient and effective healthcare delivery.

Innovate and maintain platforms for the insightful analysis of real-world evidence and patient engagement, directly informing strategic decisions and enhancing treatment methodologies.

Engage in active collaboration with a spectrum of stakeholders, from regulatory and compliance experts to healthcare professionals, to safeguard data privacy and uphold the ethical management of patient information.

Mentor emerging talent within the data engineering domain, cultivating expertise and establishing best practices for a robust data engineering infrastructure.

Lead the strategic direction and operational management of data initiatives, ensuring their alignment with the company’s overarching goals in data analytics and AI.

Act as Moderna’s ambassador for data strategy and AI, establishing partnerships, governing data frameworks, and representing the organization’s forward-thinking stance in the industry.

15+ years of leadership experience in data strategy, analytics, and digital transformation within enterprise environments, with a proven track record of driving data-centric innovations.

Demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics, with experience in implementing these technologies to drive business outcomes.

Strong leadership skills, with experience managing diverse teams and complex, cross-functional projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

In-depth knowledge of data management technologies, platforms, and practices, with experience in cloud-based data ecosystems and services.
