The Role at a Glance

 

Looking for a passionate data practitioner to be a key leader in the design, development, and management of transactional databases, operational data stores, data marts, data warehouses, and the processes required to maintain and update those databases.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Develops strategies for data warehouse implementation following industry best practice (Inmon or Kimball), creating conceptual, logical, and physical models for implementation. 
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of data warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
  • Evaluates new data sources to assess quality and determine integration approach. Performs data analysis on source system data as needed. 
  • Analyzes operational and analytical data requirements by working with cross-functional business and application development teams 
  • Drives data architecture and data modeling best practices within the team 
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions. 
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department, and/or business unit for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. 
  • Consult and collaborate to ensure project designs comply with the Enterprise Data Strategy while solving business requirements. Consult and collaborate in engagements regarding new and existing applications, environments, or processes. 
  • Lead collaboration efforts with development teams to review, update and approve the data portion of project designs, participate in cost/benefit analysis, and preparation of project plans. Lead the design, development, and delivery of data-centric IT solutions, including large-scale data staging and orchestration, integration, and provisioning mechanisms. 
  • Mentors junior data architects and data modelers. 

 

What we’re looking for

 

  • 4 Years bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or Business Administration 
  • 5+ Years experience in IT application development (Required) 
  • 8+ Years experience implementing relational database designs, data warehousing, data architecture, & data modeling, including strong knowledge of various data modeling approaches and practices (experience with 3NF, star schemas, and multi-dimensional designs) (Required) 
  • 8+ Years experience with Erwin Enterprise Data Modeler Suite or equivalent modeling software (Required) 
  • Experience with ETL tools, ETL mapping specifications, and building repeatable ETL processes (Glue preferred) 
  • Experience with data quality management and metadata management 
  • Strong working knowledge of various SDLC practices in both waterfall and agile team environments 
  • Hands-on experience with large, relational databases (Aurora preferred) and Data Warehouses (Redshift preferred) 
  • Hands-on experience with Data-Fabric and No-SQL Databases 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with developers, analysts, and business staff throughout the organization. Ability to express complex technical information in a user-friendly language and style and present information effectively in 1-on-1 and small group settings. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing to document data requirements and translate them into technical solutions 
  • Experience in AI/ML or Data Science

Pay Range: $105,301 – $190,000 

 

Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees.  In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual.  Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
