Job Description

Position summary:

As a Staff Data Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in championing data quality and best practices within Sojern’s Business Systems Engineering Team. You’ll oversee end-to-end testing of our pipelines and ensure that necessary alerts are in place. Your responsibilities will include developing comprehensive test plans and documenting test cases for upcoming initiatives. By collaborating with various teams and leveraging your cross-channel expertise, you’ll contribute to process improvements and streamlined workflows. What you will do:

  • Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth data analysis to uncover valuable insights and trends, supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Data Modeling: Develop and maintain complex data models to effectively represent and analyze diverse datasets.
  • Data Quality: Ensure data integrity and accuracy through rigorous quality checks and validation processes.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve data-related challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Automation: Develop and implement data automation processes to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest data technologies and trends, exploring opportunities to leverage them for competitive advantage.
  • Technical Leadership: Be the tech lead for a small team of engineers doing this work.

What you bring to the table: 

Essentials

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and other relevant data analysis/engineering tools.
  • A self-directed work ethic.  You will be expected to drive your own ideas without micromanagement
  • A positive attitude each day.  As a team, we support each other through trainings and ad hoc help
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balance multiple priorities, and work with remote offices
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with data science teams
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.

Nice To Have 

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, specifically BigQuery – Nice to have
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) – Nice to have
  • Experience with Celigo or other iPaaS vendor – Nice to have.
