Job Description

We’re excited to bring a Staff Data Scientist into the Creator org. This team is responsible for all creation and creator support across the platform, including the building blocks, creation tooling itself, and publication and monetization of the rooms. This org is crucial to the success of Rec Room, and this role will play a meaningful part in its success. 

As the Staff Data Scientist on the Creator Team, you will be a key insights leader responsible for owning the comprehensive story on how creators → build their content, form teams, and monetize. You will directly partner with product managers and engineers to drive impact from those insights by creating new features or modifying the existing user experience. You will be one of the most senior individuals contributing to the team, helping to lead all parts of the product lifecycle, from strategy to driving execution, measuring results, and using learnings to inform future decisions. You’ll work closely with data scientists from other teams, including ranking, engagement, and trust & safety, to align our priorities and strategies. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Help build and drive the long-term product vision for how we invest in creator success and products at Rec Room
  • Set the standard for excellence in all things data → including building pipelines, data documentation, and dashboarding.
  • Define core org-level metrics to identify high-quality rooms and creators, and work with our ranking team to ensure that we’re promoting the right content
  • Own experimentation for the org – onboarding devs & PMs onto our platform, building out best practices, and mentoring other DSes
  • Consistently deliver / present insights to management to influence key investment areas for the company.
  • Be a leader in XFN workstreams alongside product, engineering, and design teams to ensure insights make it to the product.
  • Provide mentorship to data organization by improving processes, and providing perspective on the most critical problems

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH: 

  • 6+ years of product analytics experience, with a proven track record of deriving insights that lead to product changes
  • Significant expertise in experimentation methodologies
  • Mastery knowledge of SQL
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed, and enthusiastic about solving problems
  • Experience with Python or R is a plus
  • Experience with manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume data

 

The base pay range for this position is listed below; please note the base pay may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Stock options and, in some cases, a sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. We also offer a full slate of benefits, including flexible vacation, medical, dental vision, life and disability coverage, long-term care insurance, FSA, commuter benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, and a parental leave program. We also offer some not-so-standard benefits, including equipment, family, and pet care stipends.Base Pay Range$194,063—$237,188 USD
