Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud (CIC), powered by Auth0 technology, is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for over 100 million daily logins worldwide.
Within CIC, the Data Migrations team specializes in building robust, data-driven services that seamlessly move customers across environments in real-time. We’re looking for a skilled Staff Software Engineer passionate about distributed systems, platform engineering, and building scalable services. You’ll collaborate closely with architects and stakeholders to develop and maintain crucial infrastructure for CIC’s ecosystem. This is a high-visibility role with an exciting opportunity to drive innovation in a greenfield space and make a significant impact.
What you’ll be doing
- Writing maintainable, efficient code using proven patterns to solve complex problems
- Design, develop, and operate highly scalable services for data-intensive use cases
- Utilize streaming technologies and implement change data capture (CDC) strategies to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient data transfer
- Optimize performance and reliability of migration processes through continuous monitoring and tuning
- Carry cross-team initiatives from end to end: code reviews, design reviews, operational robustness, security hygiene, etc
- Participate in team’s on-call rotation to build operational excellence on services we support
What you’ll bring to our teams
- 5+ years of software development experience in a fast-paced, agile environment
- Strong understanding of database fundamentals and experience with datastores such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Postgres
- Strong proficiency in Golang; experience with other programming languages is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Experience with reliability engineering on areas such as observability and incident management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
- Demonstrated technical leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers
Extra points
- Familiarity with protocols like SCIM and other concepts in the IAM (Identity and Access Management) domain
- Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and container technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$135,000—$203,000 CAD
