As we continue our pursuit of NPS +30 we need to transform the way we engage with our customers and colleagues. The Gen AI Domain has been set up to build the tools and capabilities needed within the group tapping into the promise of Generative AI as a key technology to solve those needs.
This domain will power the creation of Generative AI solutions that will support more personalised experiences for our customers and our people. We must bring a customer first mindset into every decision; every day, whilst taking a holistic change management approach to drive organisational adoption.
We will enable the broader group to leverage broad Generative AI capabilities through building domain owned platforms and frameworks for use across the bank, such as the Gen.AI Hub.

As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be a technical expert contributing to; designing and implementing large scale solutions, as well as influencing and engaging the senior stakeholders on modern best practices.

Understanding that technology is incredibly fast moving, you will help engineers create adaptable software that can rapidly change as the technology evolves.

Bring a strong risk mindset to the team, driving the adoption of reliability, testing practices, and responsible AI.

Relish the challenge of delivering stable platforms for internal consumers despite constant underlying technology changes and continuously optimizing for group outcomes.

Be self-motivated to keep learning while delivering concrete outcomes for customers.

Shift between “business” solution development and “platform” development at will, with the ability to tailor communication as needed.

Partner with product and engineering stakeholders at different seniority levels to influence and educate them on Gen AI solution principles and practices.

Be an ambassador in driving the Gen AI transformation across the bank working with the Group Practice Gen AI Solutions lead, sharing information and supporting other teams in their learning journey, and building an open learning culture within the practice.

Take great delight in designing, building, and scaling “no code and low code” frameworks and services to improve the scalability to deliver enriched personalized digital and personal experiences to our customers.

Coach and mentor other team members by normalizing best practices and hard-earned learnings to break the boundaries in solving real-time data-centric problems.

We are interested in hearing from people who are:

Exceptional and highly experienced in Software Engineering with a deep mastery of software engineering principles and practices.

Extensive hands-on experience in building AI-enabled software and applications from the ground up, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable, and robust solutions.

Adept at managing engineering teams that build and scale distributed systems, tools and frameworks in a public, private or hybrid cloud environment.

Customer-obsessed in their mindset to drive the Gen AI transformation work, connecting the work that happens everyday to deliver personalised customer experiences.

Skilful in developing tools required to support the operational management (including security) of software applications and systems.

Enthusiastic about driving responsible Gen AI solutions by challenging technology limitations and deficiencies in the existing systems and associated processes, procedures, and methods.
