Job Description Summary
The primary responsibility of the Statistical Analyst position is to conduct statistical programming for dermatology-related research projects under the direction of a senior statistician and three principal investigators. The Statistical Analyst will also assist with designing interfaces for data collection and management, performing data integration, manuscript writing for peer reviewed medical journals, including generating figures and tables, and will support grant development with sample size calculations.
The Statistical Analyst A will use standard SAS and/or Stata to create analytic datasets from clinical trials, health care claims, electronic medical records, and surveys; to construct and standardize analytical variables through data integration and data manipulation; to provide descriptive and analytic reports; and to perform statistical analyses.
The Statistical Analyst B will use advance techniques in SAS, Stat, and/or R to merge datasets and create analyses files from complex databases and will use specialized statistical methods to analyze cross-sectional and longitudinal datasets.

Job Description

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Create datasets from internal and external data sources for cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses.
  • Perform statistical programming and analyses under the guidance of the senior biostatistician. Analyses will include simple data descriptions (e.g., prevalence and incidence of outcomes), correlations, regression modeling (e.g., linear, logistic, cox proportional hazard models, mixed effects models, latent class analysis) and the analyst may need to learn additional statistical or bioinformatics (e.g., multi-omic data analysis) techniques for existing and/or future projects.
  • Design, develop, and provide support for database systems for clinical trials and observational studies. Responsibilities include designing and testing new system solutions; designing interfaces for data collection and management; performing data integration; training research staff of various database systems; serving as lead liaison with external technology companies.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans to ensure data integrity and compliance; query databases and coordinate with research staff to address discrepancies and complete data cleaning procedures; review/confirm resolution of data discrepancies in all EDCs; compile and submit to investigators, stakeholder committees, and study sponsors data discrepancy and adverse event reports; ensure security of databases; prepare and submit quarterly and annual data safety reports to study sponsors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Statistical Analyst A:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, informatics, or computational science and 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating knowledge or database and statistical programming required.
  • Working knowledge of electronic data capture systems, database design, and database management required.
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible in both task and schedule
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Statistical Analyst B:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in applied mathematics, statistics, informatics, or computer science and at least 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required demonstrating expert knowledge or database and statistical programming required.
  • Preference given to candidates with demonstrated knowledge and programming experience in UNIX, R, SQL, and PYTHON.
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible in both task and schedule
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
