Founded in 2023, the ByteDance Doubao (Seed) Team, is dedicated to pioneering advanced AI foundation models. Our goal is to lead in cutting-edge research and drive technological and societal advancements.

With a strong commitment to AI, our research areas span deep learning, reinforcement learning, Language, Vision, Audio, AI Infra and AI Safety. Our team has labs and research positions across China, Singapore, and the US.

Leveraging substantial data and computing resources and through continued investment in these domains, we have developed a proprietary general-purpose model with multimodal capabilities. In the Chinese market, Doubao models power over 50 ByteDance apps and business lines, including Doubao, Coze, and Dreamina, and is available to external enterprise clients via Volcano Engine. Today, the Doubao app stands as the most widely used AIGC application in China.

Team Introduction
Foundation Model team is a large model team within ByteDance, responsible for researching pretrain LLM and foundation model. It provides algorithm support and innovation for LLM.

We are looking for talented individuals to join us for a Student Researcher opportunity in 2025. Student Researcher opportunities at ByteDance aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. The Student Researcher position provides unique opportunities that go beyond the constraints of our standard internship program, allowing for flexibility in duration, time commitment, and location of work.

Responsibilities:
– Participate in the research and development of cutting-edge algorithms with the possibility to publishing top international papers, and applying for patents.
– Conduct in-depth research for cutting-edge technologies in the fields of large language models/MultiModal Machine Learning, and have opportunities for applying them to solve practical problems in the industry.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
– Currently pursuing a PhD in artificial intelligence, computer science, automation, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
– Solid foundation in data structure and algorithm design, proficient in Python/C++, proficient in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
– Pre-trained basic technologies, including efficient training and encapsulated deployment services, NLP, CV, video, MultiModal Machine Learning and other related pre-trained models and their downstream applications are preferred.
– Good reading and writing skills and a solid foundation in mathematics.
– Strong sense of responsibility, proactive, with good communication and teamwork skills.
– Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualification
– Candidates who have published papers in top academic conferences, and have achieved excellent results in competitions in the fields of MultiModal Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or Machine Learning are preferred.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description Intern (hourly)

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $60- $60. We cover 100% premium coverage for Full-Time intern medical insurance after 90 days from the date of hire. Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage.​

Our time off and leave plans are: Paid holidays and paid sick leave. The sick leave entitlement is based on the time you join.​
