About the role:
As the Subsurface Data Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and availability of all subsurface data, including seismic and well log data, across both operated and non-operated assets. You’ll be responsible for managing and maintaining a high-quality corporate data store, serving as the trusted “single source of truth” for the business.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with various teams to align subsurface data stewardship services with business requirements, ensuring both front-office and back-office needs are met. You will also support key projects and contribute to driving excellence in data management processes.
Your ability to maintain data quality, provide reliable insights, and support in-house projects will help ensure the company’s continued success in both current operations and future developments.
Here’s what the role looks like:
- Supports the Subsurface Data Management team in delivering operational related services to business users.
- Develops and enhances existing own technical skills and works with third party vendors to ensure services and developed, enhanced, and supported.
- Ensures that all processes, procedures, and work instructions are clearly followed to help improve reliability, efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness of service components under supervision for example ITIL problem and change processes.
- Accountable for compliance with all IS related processes, policies, and work practices.
- Supports the development of future planning and product roadmap activity.
- Acts as technical focal point in business-critical upgrades.
- Facilitates the use of the performance metrics to improve output
- Provides assistance to Subsurface and Exploration functions relating to the support of subsurface & well data quality, workflows and accessibility within the Subsurface and Exploration Product line.
- Organises and maintains unstructured technical documents including migration to SharePoint, taxonomy generation, and metadata creation.
- Maintains data management processes for data interoperability and delivery across subsurface (and related) product lines.
- Implements data standards and quality controls for subsurface and wells workflows and data types to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Assists in the coordination of the storage, retrieval and viewing of technical data stored with offsite vendors (digital, hardcopy, cores & samples)
Requirements
- Previous data-related technical well operations and subsurface experience is a pre-requisite for the maturity and breadth of responsibility of this position.
- Full understanding of data management within the Petrel environment, knowledge of Landmark, Kingdom, and other technical applications advantageous
- Strong working knowledge of upstream businesses with an in-depth understanding of data management concepts, standards, practices, tools, and technologies.
- Understanding of data lifecycle management and associated operator regulatory obligations.
- Working knowledge of process analysis and project management coupled with the ability to design and implement new processes and workflow strategies.
- Experience with production and reservoir engineering data environments.
- Proven delivery of data management projects for a UK or international operator.
- Degree in Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent IS work experience with G&G data
