We are now looking for an experienced SW developer/data engineer with ambitions to take up a role as Team Lead for Payments Data Engineering team, developing and maintaining our data & analytical payment applications. The role is ~50% hands-on technical work (design + development) and ~50% leadership.

About this opportunity
As the Capability Team Leader for Payments Data Engineering, you’ll play a valuable role in leading a team of data engineers/developers and data analysts, internals, as well as consultants. You will provide the strategic oversight, direction and deep technical understanding of how to modernize and develop our data pipelines – Batch (classic ETL/ELT) as well as streaming / event based (Kafka).
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing a team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts
- Be technical mentor and perform competence development and knowledge sharing within your capability – including hiring
- Deployment and use of relevant standards, frameworks and tools
- Hands-on design, development and implementation of our data and analytical payment solutions
- Identify and drive initiatives for capability uplift within Payments Data Engineering, including but not limited to competence development, knowledge sharing, deployment and use of relevant standards, frameworks and tools
The role is based in Gdansk, Warsaw or Helsinki.

- Ability to manage challenging conversations e.g. performance assessment
Your experience and background:
- Expert in Java and SQL
- Experience with Kafka distributed event store and stream-processing platform (as producer and consumer) as well as classic ETL/ELT and data modelling
- Proven work experience as a Senior Data Engineer, building and maintaining performant data pipelines, platforms and applications for reporting and analytics (cloud + on prem)
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience as Data/BI Architect, BI Specialist or Data Engineer (ideally a combination)
- Some team/technical leader experience
- Experience in large scale production environments and implementation of modern data architectures
- Degree in computer science and engineering, mathematical modelling or similar
