JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position requires the candidate to reside within the Denver Metropolitan Area or the Wichita Metropolitan Area. Candidates must be able to attend a hybrid work schedule of two days in office per week.

The Transportation Data Analyst is highly analytical and detail-oriented role which is crucial to supporting data-driven decision-making processes across our transportation and logistics operations. The ideal candidate will help manage projects to analyze transportation data, identify trends, and provide insights to optimize routes, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. The Transportation Data Analyst will work closely with operations, logistics, outside vendors, and IT teams to ensure effective data integration and analytics implementation.

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

• Data Collection and Management:
• Help define and execute the best path forward to gather, clean, and maintain large datasets from various transportation systems, including SAP, warehouse management systems, Snowflake, and outside vendors.
• ETL and ELT data pipeline creation utilizing Python, SQL and Power Query, centralizing the fragmented data storage layer.
• Visualization and Reporting:
• Develop, implement, and monitor new key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery times, transportation cost, and route optimization.
• Develop and create new dashboards, visualizations, and reports to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders across the organization using Power Query, DAX, and Power BI.
• Model Development:
• Develop predictive models to forecast transportation demand, route efficiency, and optimize resource allocation.
• Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Analyze transportation data to identify patterns, trends, and insights that impact transportation claims, operational performance, route optimization, and cost efficiency.
• Other Job Duties:
• Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to implement data-driven strategies for process improvement, route planning, scheduling, and resource management
• Cover PTO for other transportation personnel

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in data science, Transportation Engineering, Statistics, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within the transportation or logistics industry. Project Management experience is a plus. Experience with transportation management systems is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, DAX).
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and predictive modeling.
• Analytical Skills: Strong critical thinking skills and strong problem-solving skills with a focus on optimizing complex systems.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data analysis and reporting.
