Mandate:
The position is part of the Capital Markets Initiatives and Project Delivery team and is closely aligned with the priorities of the Heads of Capital Markets. The key responsibilities include the management and implementation of strategic business initiatives that deliver incremental revenue opportunities and efficiencies for Capital Markets.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Under-graduate or graduate degree in a field such as finance, mathematics, statistics or computer science.
- CFA charter or candidacy or MBA an asset
- 8-10 years relevant business experience, preferably with at least 5+ years in Capital Markets, ideally involving a trading environment.
- Knowledge of Capital Markets products, infrastructure and processes
- Understanding of financial pricing models and valuation of derivative products Solid knowledge of financial theory and risk management concepts.
- Familiarity with financial data providers (Bloomberg, Reuters).
- Ability to attentively review, assess and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Problem Solver
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and develop strong relationships at all levels across the organization to support the effective execution of business initiatives.
- Effective Influencing and change management skills
- Provides leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to team members and impacted stakeholders
- Familiarity with database design and queries is an asset, but not required (Python, VBA, Oracle/SQL)
- Proficient in MS office (excel, word, etc.,)
Key Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be a self-starting, results-oriented, and highly motivated individual with excellent analytical skills and the ability to independently resolve complex business problems.
- Evaluate, manage and facilitate initiatives for new strategies, initiatives, or transactions that may include strategic, financial or risk assessments;
- Lead business development initiatives which increase revenue and / or productivity;
- maintaining and enhancing execution efficiency across core markets and core products in coordination with key stakeholders;
- Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to implement on key programs and/or initiatives, while establishing and developing strong relationships globally across the organization to support the effective execution on the businesses’ mandate;
- Design and implement new business processes to solve critical business problems;
- Interact and build relationships with various groups across the firm (trading desks, risk management, middle office, finance, etc.,.);
- Troubleshoot and solve problems within a very short timeframe;
- Interpret Bank policies, corporate standards, directives, guidelines and processes to ensure adherence.
- Be aware of changing regulatory requirements and related impact to the business.
Authorities:
Advisory: this role provides recommendations and information to senior level business partners concerning implementation of strategic initiatives, the structuring of transactions, product development and the remediation and/or development of infrastructure capabilities.
Information Access: Authority to use and access confidential information related to strategy, client, product and financial information
Veto: Authority to stop something from happening because of significant compliance and risk exposure
Scope and Impact:
The scope of this position includes businesses across Capital Markets. The role directly influences the pace at which new initiatives, structures or new products are brought to market, as the incumbent is responsible for leading the end to end process, including influencing stakeholder behavior and championing the initiative.
Cross Functional Relationships:
In this role, the candidate works closely with groups across Capital Markets and the enterprise, in particular the sales and trading desks of Global Markets as well as I&CB. This position will also include frequent interaction with Legal, Compliance, Taxation, Technology & Operations, Market Risk and Finance.
Working Conditions:
Work is in the Capital Markets group. There may be periods of moderate to high levels of stress. Role requires the ability to interact on a cross functional basis with other groups, while also operating independently.
We are looking for an experienced professional to join our team at the VP or Director level, and we will assess based on knowledge, skills and experience of the selected candidate.
The salary range for this role based in Toronto is $125,000.00 – $140,000.00 CAD
Salary:
$68,000.00 – $126,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
